Summary
Connecticut Medicaid (HUSKY Health) eliminated co-payments for behavioral health services for HUSKY B members effective September 1, 2018, and removed prior authorization requirements for behavioral health services in emergency departments effective July 1, 2018. Multiple system updates are also being implemented for claim reprocessing and ICD-10 code changes.
Action Required
Immediately: Stop collecting co-payments from HUSKY B members for behavioral health services with dates of service September 1, 2018 and forward. Billing team must update system to remove prior authorization requirements for behavioral health services rendered in emergency department (POS 23). Monitor for potential claim suspensions in October 2018 due to ICD-10 updates affecting inpatient DRG claims with service dates October 1, 2018 and forward.
