Summary
Effective April 1, 2019, prior authorization for home health services with behavioral health primary diagnoses for Connecticut waiver clients (CHCPE, ABI, Autism, CHC, PCA) will no longer be handled by Beacon Health Options but will be managed by DSS Community Options Unit. Access Agencies and DSS Autism Case Managers must now submit these PAs directly using specific assignment codes.
Action Required
By April 1, 2019: Home health agencies must send CMS-485 forms to Access Agencies or DSS Autism Case Managers (not Beacon Health Options) for behavioral health PA requests. Access Agencies and Case Managers must create new PAs using assignment code 'B' for behavioral health or 'M' for MFP clients and upload with 'K' status for pre-approved services. Update PA search procedures to use new assignment sub-field values. Contact Access Agencies or Case Managers for PA communications instead of Beacon Health Options.
