Summary
The Department of Social Services inadvertently ended dental codes D0145 and D1206, but they are now reinstated through June 30, 2019. Starting July 1, 2019, non-dental providers in the ABC Program must switch from dental codes to CPT 99188 and use modifier DA with E&M codes for oral health assessments.
Action Required
By June 30, 2019: Billing team must stop using CDT codes D0145 and D1206 for ABC Program services. Starting July 1, 2019: Update billing system to use CPT 99188 for topical fluoride varnish and oral health assessments, and ensure modifier DA is applied to appropriate E&M codes when billing ABC Program oral health assessments. Resubmit any denied claims using CDT codes for dates of service April 1, 2019 and after.
