Summary
Connecticut Medicaid has temporarily expanded home health order signing authority under the CARES Act. Effective April 27, 2020, Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) and Physician Assistants (PAs) can now sign home health orders in addition to physicians, reversing an earlier restriction that limited signing to physicians only.
Action Required
Immediately: Update billing workflows to accept home health orders signed by APRNs and PAs in addition to physicians for Connecticut Medicaid patients. Notify providers that APRNs and PAs can now sign these orders. Update any internal processes that previously rejected orders not signed by physicians. This expansion is temporary and will end when the COVID-19 Temporary Coverage Period concludes.
