Summary
Connecticut Medicaid (CMAP) updated HCPCS codes and payment rates effective April 1, 2020, with COVID-19 testing codes 87635, U0001, and U0002 retroactively effective March 13, 2020. Audio-only behavioral health billing codes 98967 and 98968 are discontinued May 6, 2020, replaced by standard BH codes with CR modifier.
Action Required
Immediately: Stop using codes 98967 and 98968 for audio-only behavioral health services after May 6, 2020. Replace with standard BH procedure codes plus CR modifier for telephonic services. Billing team must update system to accept COVID-19 testing codes 87635, U0001, and U0002 for dates of service March 13, 2020 and forward. Resubmit any previously denied claims with these codes.
