Billing team should update opioid prior authorization workflows for Connecticut Medicaid patients to include new clinical conditions (cancer-associated pain, sickle cell pain, severe arthritis, post-traumatic pain syndrome, renal colic, pancreatitis, avascular necrosis, spinal compression fractures, painful cutaneous ulcers/wounds) that bypass letter of medical necessity requirements. Update staff to use new email address Rx.LMN@ct.gov for submitting letters of medical necessity when required. Oncology and hematology providers with specified taxonomies treating cancer or sickle cell patients are exempt from PA requirements when ICD-10 codes are documented on prescriptions.
