Summary
Connecticut Medicaid is implementing two interim rate add-ons for pediatric inpatient psychiatric services through June 30, 2022. Hospitals can receive rate increases for expanding bed capacity (effective June 1, 2021) and for high-acuity cases requiring additional staffing (effective July 1, 2021).
Action Required
By July 1, 2021: Connecticut hospitals providing pediatric inpatient psychiatric services must submit written requests to DSS or behavioral health ASO to participate in rate add-ons. For acuity-based add-ons, billing team must add Revenue Center Code 169 to claims when authorized by ASO. Ensure timely billing within three months after quarter close to avoid recoupment of capacity add-ons.
