Summary

Connecticut Medicaid will now reimburse services provided by associate licensed behavioral health clinicians (LMSWs, LMFT-As, LPC-As) working under supervision of qualified independent licensed clinicians in private practice. Services must be billed under the supervising provider and require weekly supervision with co-signed documentation.

Action Required

Action needed
Effective October 1, 2022: Behavioral health practices must ensure associate licensed clinicians work under qualified supervisors as defined by state law. Bill services under the supervising provider's name (as billing provider for individual practice, performing provider for group practice). Ensure weekly supervision occurs and all assessments, treatment plans, discharge notes and progress notes are co-signed by supervisor weekly with name, credentials, and date. Document clinical supervision for each client.
