Summary
Connecticut Medicaid clarifies that certification for intermediate substance use disorder treatment services (ASAM levels 1-WM, 2-WM, 2.1, and 2.5) is required separately for each physical site location, even if sites share the same provider ID number. Claims submitted for services at non-certified sites will be subject to recoupment.

Immediately: Billing teams at multi-site practices must verify each location providing intermediate SUD treatment has separate certification from Connecticut Medicaid. Stop billing for ASAM 1-WM, 2-WM, 2.1, and 2.5 services at any uncertified sites. Contact Provider Assistance Center at 1-800-842-8440 to obtain site-specific certifications where needed. Failure to comply will result in recoupment of all paid claims for services at non-certified locations.
