Summary
Connecticut Medicaid requires outpatient hospitals to obtain ASAM certification to bill for substance use disorder (SUD) treatment services including ambulatory withdrawal management, intensive outpatient, and partial hospitalization programs. Providers without certification will lose reimbursement for these services and face recoupment of paid claims.
Action Required
By February 23, 2023: Outpatient hospitals providing SUD services must upload provisional certification documents, CEO acknowledgement of 24-month ASAM certification deadline, and provider enrollment addendum to the secure Web Portal.
