Summary
Effective May 12, 2023, Connecticut DSS ended COVID-19 flexibility allowing staff role substitutions for Autism Waiver services. Life Skills Coaches, Job Coaches, and Community Mentors can no longer substitute for each other and must revert to their original designated roles.
Action Required
By May 12, 2023: Billing team must ensure all Autism Waiver service claims use the correct staff type designated in each service plan. Update billing procedures to prevent Life Skills Coaches from billing for Job Coach or Community Mentor services, Job Coaches from billing for Community Mentor or Life Skills Coach services, and Community Mentors from billing for Life Skills Coach services. Claims with incorrect staff assignments will likely be denied.
