Summary

Connecticut Medicaid requires Behavioral Health FQHCs to obtain certification to provide intermediate substance use disorder treatment services (ASAM levels 1-WM, 2-WM, 2.1, 2.5) effective July 1, 2023. Providers without proper certification will be subject to claim recoupments and cannot bill for these services.

By June 27, 2023: Behavioral Health FQHCs must upload provisional certification documents, CEO acknowledgment of 24-month deadline, and provider enrollment addendum to the Web Portal. Update provider demographic information with appropriate certifications. Ensure each site is separately certified for ASAM levels 1-WM, 2-WM, 2.1, and 2.5 services. Claims for intermediate SUD services without proper certification will be subject to recoupment.
