Summary
Connecticut Medicaid (CMAP) is implementing 16 new policies and updating 8 existing policies for medical services, equipment, and procedures. This includes new coverage criteria for safety bed systems, bariatric surgery, wheelchairs, medical devices, and updates to continuous glucose monitors, incontinence supplies, and gender affirmation surgery.
Action Required
By November 1, 2024: Billing team must review all 24 new and updated policies on the HUSKY Health website (https://portal.ct.gov/husky under Information for Providers > Policies, Procedures and Guidelines). Update prior authorization workflows for affected services including bariatric surgery, wheelchairs, safety bed systems, continuous glucose monitors, and incontinence supplies. Contact CHNCT at 1-800-440-5071 for prior authorization questions. Failure to follow new criteria may result in claim denials.
