Summary

New Jersey Medicaid is consolidating district offices, closing five MDOs (Cumberland, Gloucester, Union, Hunterdon, Mercer) effective October. Providers must now route Pre-Admission Screening (PAS) assessments, prior authorization requests, and long-term care inquiries to new consolidated MDO locations based on updated county-to-office mappings.

Action Required

Action needed
Before October 2024: (1) Billing team must update internal routing protocols and system workflows to direct all PAS assessments to the correct consolidated MDO based on hospital/facility location county (see routing chart: Atlantic/Cumberland/CapeMay → Atlantic County MDO; Bergen/Hudson → Bergen County MDO; etc.). (2) Update prior authorization submission procedures for all other providers to route PA requests to the new MDO assignments per county of recipient (note: Passaic County now handles Morris/Sussex/Warren/Passaic instead of Morris County). (3) Update staff contact lists with new MDO phone numbers and addresses from attached directory. (4) Notify clinical staff and providers in your network of the MDO consolidation and new routing requirements. (5) Test billing system changes to ensure PAS and PA routing is correct before October effective date. Failure to route to correct consolidated MDOs may result in claim processing delays or denials.
