Summary
New Jersey Medicaid will no longer reimburse for single-antigen measles, mumps, or rubella vaccines when the combined MMR vaccine is medically appropriate. Providers must use the trivalent MMR vaccine (HCPCS code 90707) except in specific medical emergencies or when MMR is medically contraindicated and properly documented.
Action Required
Immediately: Billing team must update system to only bill HCPCS code 90707 for MMR immunizations for New Jersey Medicaid patients. Stop billing single-antigen measles, mumps, or rubella vaccines unless medically contraindicated. Providers must document medical contraindications in patient records when single antigens are used, as these records must be available for Division review upon request.
