Summary
New Jersey is implementing an expanded Medicaid Eligibility Verification System (MEVS) that allows providers to electronically verify Medicaid and PAAD eligibility in real-time through approved vendors. This system supplements existing verification methods and provides the same eligibility data used by the state's fiscal agent to process claims.
Action Required
Immediately: Contact current MEVS vendor to confirm contract status under the new system. For providers interested in MEVS services, call Office of Beneficiary and Provider Services at 609-588-2933 for approved vendor list. When selecting vendors, evaluate equipment needs, costs per transaction, software integration, training, and support levels. Note that MEVS is optional and has fees, while other verification methods remain free.
