Summary
New Jersey Medicaid is adding 7 pharmaceutical manufacturers to its Drug Rebate Program and removing 2 manufacturers effective April 1, 1997 (with one addition effective January 1, 1997). Drugs from deleted manufacturers will no longer be reimbursed by Medicaid. Billing teams must update their pharmacy claims systems to reflect these manufacturer changes to avoid claim denials.

By April 1, 1997: Billing team must update pharmacy claims processing system to reflect manufacturer changes in New Jersey Medicaid Drug Rebate Program. ADDITIONS (effective 04/01/97): Add labeler codes 59767 (Digestive Care, Inc.), 62037 (Andrx Pharmaceuticals, Inc.), 62541 (Vivus, Inc.), 62653 (Care Technologies, Inc.), 62939 (Brightstone Pharma, Inc.), 63044 (Nnodum Corporation); add labeler code 63010 (Agouron Pharmaceuticals, Inc.) effective 01/01/97. DELETIONS (effective 04/01/97): Remove labeler codes 41701 (Stolle Health and Nutrition) and 61874 (Novo Nordisk Pharmaceuticals, Incorporated) from reimbursable manufacturers list. Verify any pending or in-process claims for deleted manufacturers and resubmit if necessary. Notify pharmacy staff that drugs from Stolle Health and Nutrition and Novo Nordisk will be denied for Medicaid reimbursement after the effective date. Failure to update the system will result in claim denials for both new additions (if not added) and deleted manufacturers (if not removed). Note: PAAD Drug Rebate Program coverage may differ from Medicaid coverage.
