Summary
New Jersey Medicaid has added two new HCPCS codes to their 1997 procedure code file effective January 1, 1997: code 80197 for Tacrolimus testing (max fee $15.00) and code 83902 for Reverse Transcription testing (max fee $25.23). Independent clinical laboratories, physicians, hospitals, and independent clinics must add these codes and fee allowances to their billing systems.
Action Required
Effective January 1, 1997: Billing team must update the HCPCS procedure code file in the billing system to add codes 80197 (Tacrolimus, $15.00 max fee) and 83902 (Reverse Transcription, $25.23 max fee). All providers except HMOs should file this newsletter in their HCPCS subchapter for reference. HMOs should retain behind the blue tab marked '5'.
