Summary
New Jersey Medicaid added two pharmaceutical manufacturers (EM Pharma and Daiichi Pharmaceutical Corporation) to the Drug Rebate Program and removed four manufacturers (Aligen Independent Labs, Pasadena Research Labs, Horus Therapeutics, and P.L. Development) effective October 1, 1997. Drugs from deleted manufacturers will no longer be reimbursed by Medicaid.
Action Required
By October 1, 1997 (retroactive): Billing team must immediately update pharmacy billing system and claims processing to reject or deny claims for any drugs manufactured by labeler codes 00405, 00418, 59229, and 59726 (Aligen Independent Labs, Pasadena Research Labs, Horus Therapeutics, and P.L. Development). Add these labeler codes to the system's non-covered/deleted manufacturer list. Verify that drugs from labeler codes 63254 and 63395 (EM Pharma and Daiichi Pharmaceutical Corporation) are now eligible for reimbursement. Notify prescribers immediately of the manufacturer deletions to prevent claim denials. Any claims submitted for drugs from deleted manufacturers will be denied by Medicaid and will not be reimbursable.
