Summary
New Jersey Medicaid has added 5 pharmaceutical manufacturers to its Drug Rebate Program (effective 01/01/98 and 10/01/97) and removed 5 manufacturers, meaning drugs from deleted manufacturers will no longer be reimbursed by NJ Medicaid. Billing teams must update their pharmacy claim systems to reject claims for drugs from the 5 deleted manufacturers and accept claims from the 5 newly added manufacturers.
Action Required
By January 1, 1998: Billing and pharmacy teams must update claim processing systems to reflect manufacturer labeler code changes. DELETIONS - Stop reimbursement for drugs from these manufacturers (effective 01/01/98): Labeler Code 23900 (Richardson-Vicks, Inc.), 59291 (IYATA Pharmaceutical, Inc.), 61471 (Sequus Pharmaceuticals, Inc.), 61924 (DermaRite Industries LLC), 62033 (Bosoogen, Inc.). ADDITIONS - Begin accepting reimbursement for drugs from these manufacturers: Labeler Code 08166 (Vital Signs, Inc.), 19650 (Evans Medical), 60569 (Hi-Tech Pharmacal Co., Inc.), 62860 (Neurex Corporation), 63739 (Sky Pharmaceuticals Packaging, Inc.). Update pharmacy billing software to cross-reference manufacturer labeler codes against the approved list. Failure to implement these changes will result in claim denials for non-participating manufacturers and potential overpayments.
