Summary
New Jersey Division of Medical Assistance and Health Services is adding two HCPCS procedure codes for psychiatric services provided by Certified Nurse Practitioners and Clinical Nurse Specialists, effective for claims with service dates on or after November 1, 1998. These codes (90805 and 90807) establish maximum fee allowances for individual psychotherapy with medical evaluation and management services at different time intervals.
Action Required
Before November 1, 1998: Billing team must add HCPCS codes 90805 and 90807 to the billing system for New Jersey Medicaid claims. Update the Manual for Nurse Practitioners and Specialists Services, Chapter 10:58A with the attachment supplement. Ensure billing staff can properly code individual psychotherapy services provided by CNPs and CNSs with the correct maximum fee allowances ($12.40 for 90805 and $24.70 for 90807). Claims submitted with these codes after the effective date may be denied if the system is not updated to recognize these newly approved codes.
