Summary
New Jersey Medicaid and NJ KidCare programs are adding 5 pharmaceutical manufacturers to their drug rebate program (effective 01/01/99) and removing 1 manufacturer. Drugs from deleted manufacturers will no longer be reimbursed. Billing teams must update their approved manufacturer lists to reflect these changes.
Action Required
By effective date (01/01/99): Billing team must update pharmacy billing system and formulary databases to: (1) ADD the following manufacturer labeler codes to approved list: 59291 (Iyata Pharmaceutical), 08004 (McNeil-PPC Inc.), 57894 (Centocor Inc.), 62294 (DiHoMa Chemical & Mfg.), 63801 (Seven Oaks Pharmaceuticals); (2) REMOVE labeler code 51301 (Great Southern Laboratories) from approved manufacturers. Pharmacy staff and billing personnel must be trained to reject or flag any claims for drugs from Great Southern Laboratories (51301) as non-covered effective 01/01/99. Update claim scrubbing rules to deny reimbursement for deleted manufacturer drugs. Communicate changes to all prescribing providers. Failure to implement will result in claim denials for affected drugs.
