Summary

New Jersey Medicaid and NJ KidCare fee-for-service programs are adding 5 pharmaceutical manufacturers to their approved rebate drug list and removing 9 manufacturers effective immediately. Drugs from deleted manufacturers will no longer be reimbursed. Billing teams must update their pharmacy benefit management systems to reflect these manufacturer labeler code changes to avoid claim denials.

Action Required

Action needed
EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY: Pharmacy billing staff and software administrators must update the pharmacy management system to: (1) ADD the following manufacturer labeler codes to the approved list: 39822 (Pharma-Tek Inc.), 50484 (Smith & Nephew, Inc.), 62109 (Watson Laboratories, Inc.), 64193 (Baxter Healthcare Corporation), and 65483 (Prometheus Laboratories, Inc.); (2) REMOVE/BLOCK the following manufacturer labeler codes from reimbursement: 00588, 58946, 59741, 60412, 60619, 62701, 00426, 00386, and 59010. Update pharmacy benefit formulary screens to reflect deletions. Verify that claims submitted for drugs from deleted manufacturers are denied with appropriate messaging to providers. Notify prescribers in your network of the deletions to prevent prescription of non-covered products. Failure to implement these changes will result in claim denials for affected drug products.
