Summary
New Jersey Medicaid and NJ KidCare programs are adding 5 pharmaceutical manufacturers to the drug rebate program (effective 08/02/2000–09/06/2000) and deleting 8 manufacturers effective 01/01/2001, meaning drugs from deleted manufacturers will no longer be reimbursed. Additionally, Bausch & Lomb (Labeler Code #00303) is being retroactively terminated as of 01/01/1998.
Action Required
By 12/31/2000: Billing team must update pharmacy billing system to reflect manufacturer labeler code deletions effective 01/01/2001. Stop processing claims for drugs manufactured by G.D. Searle & Co. (00014), Bioline Laboratories Inc. (00719), Knoll Pharmaceutical Company (00822), Baxter Healthcare Corporation (47679), Best Genetics, Inc. (54274), Carpenter Pharmaceutical Co., Inc. (55726), Neurex Corporation (62860), and E.M.T. – Rx (64054). Immediately add newly approved manufacturers (MGP Apothecon 64681, Propst Pharmaceuticals LLC 65581, Sankyo Pharma Inc. 65597, Salix Pharmaceuticals Inc. 65649, Reliant Pharmaceuticals LLC 65726) to the formulary. Update pharmacy system to deny reimbursement for drugs from deleted manufacturers and educate pharmacy staff and providers about the changes. Claims for deleted manufacturer drugs submitted after the effective dates will be denied by Medicaid/NJ KidCare.
