Summary

New Jersey is terminating presumptive eligibility determinations for adults and immigrant children (entry date after August 22, 1996) effective April 2, 2001. Hospitals and FQHCs can no longer process these determinations, but existing certifications signed before April 2, 2001 will still be processed.

By April 2, 2001: Stop processing presumptive eligibility certifications for adults and non-qualified immigrant children. Submit any certifications signed before April 2, 2001 within two business days. Direct affected cases to Charity Care Program instead. Continue assisting with full NJ FamilyCare applications.
