Summary

New Jersey Medicaid implemented a 3.5% Social Security Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) effective January 1, 2001, automatically updating patient payment amounts for nursing facility residents. Facilities must review the COLA UPDATE REPORT and adjust patient payment amounts on billing documents if differences of $1.00 or more exist.

Action Required

Action needed
Immediately: Nursing facilities must review the enclosed COLA UPDATE REPORT comparing NET INC AFTER amounts to current TAD MCNH-117 Block #35 patient payment amounts. If difference is $1.00 or more: 1) Update patient payment amount on TAD Block #35 to match NET INC AFTER amount and submit to Unisys, 2) Inform County Welfare Agency that new PR1 form needed. If difference is less than $1.00: 1) Update patient payment amount on TAD Block #35 only, 2) Do not contact County Welfare Agency. EMC submitters must update patient payment field electronically instead of submitting hard copy TAD forms.
