Summary
New Jersey Medicaid and NJ FamilyCare have updated their pharmaceutical manufacturer rebate program by adding 7 new manufacturers to the approved list (effective dates ranging from 12/22/2000 to 02/22/2001) and removing 2 manufacturers (Medical Resources, Inc. and Fujisawa, both effective 04/01/2001). Drugs from removed manufacturers will no longer be reimbursed by NJ Medicaid or NJ FamilyCare fee-for-service programs.
Action Required
IMMEDIATELY: Billing and pharmacy teams must update their system records to reflect manufacturer changes. ADDITIONS (effective dates as noted): Add labeler codes 31096 (D&K HealthCare Resources), 50434 (Heran Pharmaceutical), 58728 (Peters Laboratories), 64875 (Danco Laboratories), 65234 (Amarin Pharmaceuticals), 65293 (The Medicines Company), and 65694 (DrugAbuse Sciences) to the approved manufacturer list for NJ Medicaid/NJ FamilyCare reimbursement. BY 04/01/2001: Remove labeler codes 64065 (Medical Resources, Inc.) and 57317 (Fujisawa) from the approved manufacturer list. After 04/01/2001, claims for drugs from these two manufacturers will be DENIED by NJ Medicaid and NJ FamilyCare fee-for-service. Communicate these changes to prescribers and update pharmacy dispensing systems to flag drugs from removed manufacturers. Verify manufacturer labeler codes on all claims before submission to prevent denials. Note: These changes apply only to NJ Medicaid/NJ FamilyCare fee-for-service programs and do not affect PAAD Drug Rebate program coverage.
