Summary

New Jersey expands its DME Recycling Program to Essex and Hudson Counties effective immediately. Medical suppliers must now contact Inter-Health LLC (1-800-339-7797) to check recycling equipment availability before dispensing DME to Medicaid and NJ FamilyCare fee-for-service beneficiaries in these counties. For items requiring prior authorization, the Medical Assistance Customer Centers will contact Inter-Health directly.

Action Required

Action needed
Immediately: Medical suppliers billing Medicaid or NJ FamilyCare FFS in Essex and Hudson Counties must update workflow to contact Inter-Health LLC at 1-800-339-7797 BEFORE dispensing any recyclable DME items. For DME not requiring prior authorization, suppliers must initiate the contact. For DME requiring PA, wait for Medical Assistance Customer Centers to contact Inter-Health and obtain PA before billing. Update supplier contact lists and staff training on recycled equipment availability protocol. Failure to follow this process may result in claim denials or recovery demands for non-recycled equipment when recycled alternatives were available.
