Summary

New Jersey is transferring prior authorization processing for partial hospitalization services from the state Mental Health Unit to ten regional Medical Assistance Customer Centers (MACCs). Effective August 15, 2001, providers must submit prior auth requests using forms FD-07 and FD-07A to the MACC office in the county where services are provided, rather than to the central Quakerbridge Plaza office.

Action Required

Action needed
By August 15, 2001: Billing team must update prior authorization submission procedures to route all partial hospitalization service requests (Revenue Codes 912 and 913) to the appropriate county-based MACC office instead of the centralized Mental Health Unit. Create or update internal routing lists using the attached MACC directory. Update billing system workflows, staff training materials, and encounter templates to reflect the new regional submission requirement. Providers submitting prior auth requests to the old Quakerbridge Plaza address after August 15 will experience delays and potential claim denials. Ensure all staff understand which MACC office covers their service delivery counties.
