Summary
New Jersey Medicaid and NJ FamilyCare are adding three pharmaceutical manufacturers to their approved drug rebate programs (effective June-July 2001) and removing eight manufacturers from coverage (effective October 1, 2001). Drugs from deleted manufacturers will no longer be reimbursed by these programs.
Action Required
By September 15, 2001: Billing team must update pharmacy billing system to block reimbursement claims for drugs manufactured by the following labeler codes effective October 1, 2001: 00147 (Camall Company), 00217 (The Ainsworth Corporation/Dunhall Pharmaceuticals), 58196 (Jordan Pharmaceuticals), 58436 (UCB Pharma), 59243 (Sage Pharmaceuticals), 60242 (Neil Laboratories), 60322 (Hamilton Pharma), and 62793 (Peachtree Pharmaceuticals). Immediately update the approved manufacturer list in the billing system to include newly added labelers: 10019 (Baxter Healthcare), 50057 (Pharmaceutical Ventures), and 66215 (Actelion Pharmaceuticals). Pharmacy staff must verify all prescriptions against the updated approved manufacturer list. Notify prescribers in New Jersey practices that drugs from deleted manufacturers will be denied for Medicaid and NJ FamilyCare patients, and alternative medications from approved manufacturers should be used. Update internal pharmacy formulary documentation. Note: These changes affect fee-for-service programs only; PAAD Drug Rebate and Senior Gold programs may have different coverage.
