Summary
New Jersey Medicaid and NJ FamilyCare have added three pharmaceutical manufacturers to their drug rebate programs: Upstate Pharma LLC (effective 01/17/2002), PediaMed Pharmaceuticals Inc. (effective 01/04/2002), and Lek Pharmaceuticals Inc. (effective 12/31/2001). Billing teams must ensure claims for drugs from these manufacturers are processed under the correct rebate program, as coverage may differ between Medicaid/NJ FamilyCare fee-for-service, PAAD, and Senior Gold programs.
Action Required
By February 28, 2002: Pharmacy billing staff should update internal reference materials to recognize the three new manufacturer labeler codes (65580, 66346, 66685) when processing New Jersey Medicaid and NJ FamilyCare claims. Verify that pharmacy management system or claims submission software correctly routes claims for these manufacturers to the appropriate rebate program. Note that drug coverage eligibility may differ between Medicaid/NJ FamilyCare fee-for-service, PAAD Drug Rebate, and Senior Gold programs—do not assume coverage is identical across programs.
