Summary
New Jersey Medicaid requires pharmacies to use specific Customer Location Field values (NCPDP Field 307) when billing for pharmaceutical services in different care settings. Most importantly, pharmacies must use value '08' for Assisted Living Residences and Comprehensive Personal Care Homes, and these claims must be submitted via POS (point-of-sale) format only.
Action Required
By April 1, 2002: Pharmacy billing teams must update POS billing systems to use correct Customer Location Field values (NCPDP Field 307): Use '08' for Assisted Living Residences and Comprehensive Personal Care Homes, values '02, 03, 04, 07' for long-term care facilities, and values '01, 05, 06, 10, 11' for retail settings. ALR and CPCH claims MUST be submitted via POS format only - EMC or paper formats will not be accepted. Update billing software rules to enforce these location codes or claims will be processed incorrectly.
