Summary

New Jersey Medicaid has implemented a 2.6% Social Security cost of living adjustment (COLA) effective January 1, 2002, which affects patient payment calculations for long-term care facilities. Facilities must review the COLA UPDATE REPORT and update patient payment amounts on their billing documents if the difference is $1.00 or more.

Action Required

Action needed
Immediately: Long-term care billing teams must review the enclosed COLA UPDATE REPORT comparing NET INC AFTER amounts to current PATIENT PAYMENT amounts in Block #35 of TAD form MCNH-117. If difference is $1.00 or more: update Block #35 to reflect new patient liability amount, submit TAD to Unisys at P.O. Box 4805, Trenton, NJ 08650-4805, and notify CBOSS or Medicaid ISS office for new PR-1 completion. If difference is less than $1.00: only update Block #35 and submit TAD, do not notify offices. EMC submitters should change PATIENT PAYMENT field electronically instead of submitting paper TAD.
