Summary

New Jersey Medicaid and NJ FamilyCare programs have added five pharmaceutical manufacturers to their drug rebate program. These manufacturer labeler codes became effective between May and June 2002 and must be recognized in pharmacy billing. Coverage and rebate eligibility may differ across Medicaid fee-for-service, PAAD, and Senior Gold programs.

Action Required

Action needed
By September 2002: Pharmacy billing team must update pharmacy management system to recognize the five new manufacturer labeler codes (60553, 66302, 66758, 66993, 67181) in NJ Medicaid and NJ FamilyCare claims. Verify that drugs from Trisenox, United Therapeutics Corporation, Parenta Pharmaceuticals, Prasco Laboratories, and Colorado Biolabs are processed with correct rebate program designation. Train staff that PAAD and Senior Gold programs may have different coverage rules for these manufacturers. File this newsletter in the policy binder (Blue Tab 5) for reference.
