Summary
New Jersey Medicaid has implemented a 1.4% Social Security cost of living adjustment (COLA) effective January 1, 2003, which automatically recalculates patient payment amounts for long-term care facilities. Facilities must review the COLA UPDATE REPORT and update patient payment amounts on billing documents when differences of $1.00 or more exist.
Action Required
Immediately: Long-term care facility billing teams must review the enclosed COLA UPDATE REPORT comparing NET INC AFTER amounts to current TAD form Block #35 patient payment amounts. If difference is $1.00 or more: update PATIENT PAYMENT amount on TAD (MCNH-117) Block #35 and submit to Unisys, then inform CBOSS or ISS office for new PR-1 completion. If difference is less than $1.00: update TAD Block #35 only, do not contact CBOSS/ISS. EMC submitters should update the PATIENT PAYMENT field electronically instead of submitting paper TAD forms.
