Summary
New Jersey Medicaid and NJ FamilyCare updated vision care billing codes effective January 1, 2003, adding HCPCS code 99600 and deleting code 99539 effective May 1, 2003. Vision care providers must use the new code 99600 instead of 99539 for claim submissions.
Action Required
Vision care providers only: Update billing systems to use HCPCS code 99600 instead of deleted code 99539 for New Jersey Medicaid and NJ FamilyCare claims. Add the attachment to Subchapter 3 in Vision Care Services Manual behind blue tab marked '5'. Claims using deleted code 99539 after May 1, 2003 will not be processed.
