Summary
New Jersey Medicaid and NJ FamilyCare are adding 11 pharmaceutical manufacturers to their drug rebate program (effective dates ranging from 12/09/2002 to 02/21/2003) and deleting 10 manufacturers effective 04/01/2003. Drugs from deleted manufacturers will no longer be reimbursed by these programs.
Action Required
By April 1, 2003: Billing team must update pharmacy billing system to reject claims for drugs manufactured by deleted manufacturers (Hyrex Pharmaceuticals 00314, Gemini Pharmaceuticals 51645, Pharmakon Labs 55422, Healz-Plus 66073, Celltech Pharmaceuticals 19650 and 43567, Roche Laboratories 53169, Kerry Company 60475, Amerx Health Care 61470, Graben Pharma 67445). Review patient medication lists for NJ Medicaid and NJ FamilyCare beneficiaries currently prescribed these drugs and notify providers to switch to alternative therapies before the effective date. Claims submitted for these manufacturers after 04/01/2003 will be denied. Additionally, prior to the deletion date, update prior authorization workflows to accept additions from newly enrolled manufacturers (PharmaDerm, Schering Plough HealthCare Products, Nastech Pharmaceutical, Novo Nordisk Pharmaceuticals, Millennium Pharmaceuticals, STADA Pharmaceuticals, Fairview Health Services, Three Rivers Pharmaceuticals, Inkine Pharmaceuticals, Medecor Pharma, Romark Pharmaceuticals) to avoid coverage gaps.
