Summary
New Jersey Medicaid and NJ FamilyCare updated their Drug Rebate Program manufacturer lists, adding 5 new pharmaceutical manufacturers effective April-July 2003 and deleting 11 manufacturers effective October 1, 2003. Drugs from deleted manufacturers will not be reimbursed by Medicaid or NJ FamilyCare fee-for-service starting October 1, 2003.
Action Required
Before October 1, 2003: Billing team must immediately update pharmacy claims submission system to deny reimbursement for any drugs manufactured by the following labeler codes: 11808 (RX Formulations), 61442 (Carlsbad Technology), 65976 (OraPharma), 66460 (NuPharmx), 31096 (D&K Healthcare), 04142 and 66825 (Biocodex), 61073 (Amkas), 64054 (Am2Pat/Emt-Rx), 65757 (Transkaryotic Therapies), 66239 (Scientific Laboratories), 66689 (Vistapharm), and 66779 (Regent Labs). Additionally, add the 5 new manufacturers to the approved list: labeler codes 17474 (Tyco Healthcare), 58552 (Gil Pharmaceutical), 67767 (Abrika), 67800 (Corixa), and 68047 (Larken Laboratories). Alert prescribing providers and patient care staff immediately about non-covered medications to prevent claim denials. Without these updates, claims for deleted manufacturer drugs will be rejected by Medicaid/NJ FamilyCare effective October 1, 2003, and patients may be liable for costs.
