Summary
New Jersey Medicaid has delayed the mandatory implementation of HIPAA transaction sets (837, 835) and local-to-national procedure code transitions from January 1, 2004 to April 1, 2004. A new HIPAA Companion Guide is available with corrections and updated requirements.
Action Required
Before April 1, 2004: Billing team must prepare to implement HIPAA 837 transaction format for electronic claims submissions and 835 format for electronic remittance advice.
