Summary
New Jersey is deleting two local procedure codes (Z1202 and Z1203) effective April 1, 2004, with no replacement codes available. Billing teams must stop using these codes immediately for all Medicaid and NJ FamilyCare fee-for-service claims, as the state will no longer accept them.
Action Required
By March 31, 2004: Billing team must identify all claims currently using local codes Z1202 and Z1203 and determine appropriate alternative billing methods. Update billing software to reject or prevent submission of Z1202 and Z1203 for dates of service on or after April 1, 2004. Notify all case management providers in Community Care Programs for the Elderly and Disabled of the code deletions. Since these codes have no replacement codes, work with clinical staff to determine the correct national CPT or HCPCS codes for the services previously reported under Z1202 and Z1203. Failure to comply will result in claim denials from the state.
