Summary
Effective April 1, 2004, the New Jersey Division of Medical Assistance & Health Services is discontinuing acceptance of local procedure code Y9636 for Medicaid and NJ FamilyCare fee-for-service claims. This code has been deleted entirely with no replacement code available. Providers must stop billing this code and remove it from their billing systems.
Action Required
By March 31, 2004: Billing team must audit all claims currently using local code Y9636 and immediately remove this code from billing system configurations and superbills. Contact providers in New Jersey who offer case management in assisted living or comprehensive personal care homes to notify them that Y9636 is no longer valid for billing NJ Medicaid and NJ FamilyCare claims effective April 1, 2004. Any claims submitted with this code on or after April 1, 2004 will be denied. Update billing software edit checks to reject claims containing Y9636 for New Jersey Medicaid/NJ FamilyCare.
