Summary
New Jersey Medicaid and NJ FamileCare are discontinuing specific local procedure codes (Y6333, Y6334, Y6335, Y6336, Y6339, Y6343, Z2015) effective April 1, 2004. Hospice providers must replace these codes with national HCPCS equivalents (T2042, S9126, T2044, T2045, T2046) or discontinue billing entirely where no replacement exists. Claims submitted with deleted local codes after this date will be rejected.
Action Required
By March 31, 2004: Billing team must update all billing system rules and claim submission templates to replace deleted NJ local codes with national HCPCS codes as follows: Y6333→T2042, Y6334→S9126, Y6335→T2044, Y6336→T2045, Z2015→T2046. Remove Y6339 and Y6343 entirely from billing workflows as they have no replacement codes. Notify all hospice service providers of the changes. Update internal code mapping tables and testing procedures. Claims submitted on or after April 1, 2004 using the deleted local codes will be denied by NJ Medicaid and NJ FamilyCare.
