Summary
New Jersey Medicaid and NJ FamilyCare are deleting two local procedure codes (Y9335 and Y9437) effective April 1, 2004, with no replacement codes. Billing teams must stop using these codes immediately and cannot bill for services previously reported under them.
Action Required
By March 31, 2004: Billing team must remove local codes Y9335 and Y9437 from all billing software, templates, and superbills for New Jersey Medicaid and NJ FamilyCare claims. Audit all pending claims with dates of service on or after April 1, 2004 to ensure these codes are not submitted. For claims previously using Y9335 or Y9437, work with providers to identify appropriate national procedure codes (CPT or HCPCS) as replacements, or contact Maximus at 1-800-618-7364 for guidance. Claims submitted with deleted local codes will be denied. Retain this newsletter in compliance files for reference.
