Summary

New Jersey Medicaid implemented a 3.3% Social Security COLA increase effective January 1, 2007, affecting patient payment calculations for long-term care facilities. Facilities must review COLA update reports and adjust patient payment amounts on billing documents if differences are $1.00 or more.

Action Required

Action needed
Immediately: Long-term care billing teams must review the enclosed COLA UPDATE REPORT comparing NET INC AFTER amounts to current TAD (MCNH-117) Block #35 patient payment amounts. If differences are $1.00 or more, update the patient payment amount on the TAD form and submit to Unisys, then inform the County Welfare Agency that a new PR-1 needs completion. For EDI submitters, update the patient payment field in the HI-Value Information segment instead of submitting hard copy forms.
