Summary

New Jersey's PAAD program increases co-pays for prescriptions (generics from $5 to $6, brand names from $5 to $7) and eliminates coverage for diabetic testing supplies effective August 1, 2008. Senior Gold beneficiaries must now enroll in Medicare Part D to maintain benefits.

Action Required

Action needed
By August 1, 2008: Pharmacy staff must update co-pay amounts in billing system - $6 for generics, $7 for brand names under PAAD program. Stop billing PAAD/Senior Gold for diabetic testing supplies (test strips, lancets) and bill Medicare Part B instead. Post required public notice about co-pay increases. Note: Claims with brand co-pays $7 or less or generic co-pays $6 or less do not need PAAD wraparound billing.
