Summary

New Jersey nursing facilities must review and update patient payment amounts on TAD forms (Block #35) based on the 5.8% Social Security COLA increase effective January 1, 2009. Facilities need to compare amounts from the COLA UPDATE REPORT with current TAD amounts and submit corrections to Unisys when differences are $1.00 or more.

Action Required

Action needed
Immediately: Nursing facility billing teams must review the enclosed COLA UPDATE REPORT and compare NET INC AFTER amounts with current TAD MCNH-117 Block #35 PATIENT PAYMENT amounts. For differences of $1.00 or more: update Block #35 on TAD forms to reflect actual patient liability, submit corrected TADs to Unisys (P.O. Box 4805, Trenton, NJ 08650-4805), and notify County Welfare Agency for new PR1. For EMC submitters: update PATIENT PAYMENT field electronically instead of submitting hard copy TADs. For differences under $1.00: only update TAD amounts without notifying County Welfare.
