Summary
New Jersey Medicaid is transitioning non-emergency transportation services (ambulance, MAV, medical livery in Essex/Hudson counties) from UNISYS to LogistiCare as the state's transportation broker effective July 1, 2009. All transportation providers must apply directly to LogistiCare to remain authorized; prior DMAHS authorization does not automatically transfer. Claims for services after 6/30/09 will no longer be paid by UNISYS.
Action Required
By June 24, 2009: (1) Transportation providers must apply to become a LogistiCare provider by calling 1-866-431-4635 or visiting www.logisticare.com—this is mandatory, as DMAHS authorization does not automatically transfer. (2) Billing team must update prior authorization workflows to route all non-emergency ambulance, MAV, and medical livery (Essex/Hudson only) requests to LogistiCare instead of UNISYS for any service date on or after 7/1/09. (3) Update billing system to direct transportation reservations to LogistiCare at 866-527-9933 instead of UNISYS. (4) Implement a hard cutoff in billing software: deny any non-emergency transportation claims with service dates after 6/30/09 that are submitted to UNISYS, as UNISYS will no longer process them. Failure to transition to LogistiCare will result in claim denials and loss of transportation authorization.
