Summary
New Jersey Medicaid is discontinuing four local procedure and modifier codes (W9205, W9215, W9220, Y5150) effective July 1, 2009, and providers must use equivalent national CPT codes instead. Vision care providers must update their billing systems to use the new code mappings for all claims with dates of service on or after this date.
Action Required
By July 1, 2009: Vision care billing team must update billing software to replace discontinued NJ local codes with national equivalents: W9205 becomes 92065 with modifier 22, W9215 and W9220 become 99211, Y5150 becomes V2020. Update encounter forms and staff training materials. Claims submitted with old local codes will be rejected after the effective date.
