Action Required
By June 30, 2009: Billing team must update all billing software and claims submission systems to discontinue use of local code Y4550 and replace it with national code V5299 for all Medicaid and NJ FamilyCare fee-for-service claims. Update any encounter forms, templates, or provider documentation tools to reflect the code change. Notify all hearing aid providers in your network of this mandatory change. Verify that electronic and hard copy claim submission processes use V5299 instead of Y4550. Claims submitted with Y4550 on or after July 1, 2009 will be rejected and must be resubmitted with the correct code, resulting in payment delays and potential compliance issues.
