Summary
Effective July 1, 2009, the New Jersey Division of Medical Assistance & Health Services will no longer accept the local procedure code Y9736 for Medicaid and NJ FamilyCare fee-for-service claims. This code has been deleted with no replacement code available. Providers must discontinue use of Y9736 immediately for all claims with dates of service on or after the effective date.
Action Required
Before July 1, 2009: Billing team must update billing system to reject or flag code Y9736 for New Jersey Medicaid and NJ FamilyCare claims. Remove Y9736 from all templates, charge masters, and encounter forms used for NJ state plan billing. Providers should be notified that Y9736 is no longer valid and cannot be billed to these plans. Claims submitted with Y9736 on or after July 1, 2009 will be denied.
